The show is under Sree Movies Production. Balasudha (Shelley Kishore) is the third girl of Jayachandran Nair. Her kin is Harikrishnan, Jayasudha, and Ajayan.

She is involved with their family companion's child (with information of the family) Sooraj (Arun G Raghavan) whose sister Preethi is Bala's closest companion. Their marriage is settled. All of a sudden as a stun Jayachandran Nair loses every one of his properties and riches and is compelled to move into a rental house.

Sthreepada is an emotional drama which chronicles the life and struggles of a girl named Balasudha. The director of the show is G. R. Krishnan and the writer is Joycee. The producer of the serial is Sreemovies Unnithan, who is a well-known and a senior producer of the Malayalam industry. The production company who backed the show is Sree Communications. The show is based on a novel by the same name. Joycee, who is also the writer of the show, is also the author of the book. Balasudha is a beautiful and enthusiastic young woman. Her father is the owner of a flourishing business and hence a lot of people respect her family due to their wealth and reputation.

Balasudha has only one friend, whose name is Preety. Preety has an elder brother named Suraj. Balasudha happens to see Preety's brother and falls madly in love with her. She tells her parents about her feelings towards Suraj. Balasudha's family and Suraj's family decide to meet each other and after much discussion both their kins agree to get them married to each other. Balasudha feels relieved and excited as finally she would get to marry her love. However, few days after their meeting, Balasudha's dad suffers a humongous loss in the business. As a result, he had to sell their house for a meagre amount. He also has to sell his factories and other such properties.

Thus, the family is left with no choice but to start living in a small house as Balasudha's dad could afford couldn't afford to buy or rent a big house. However, he had saved some amount of money for his daughter's wedding. But he has to spend a fair share of sum in giving compensations to the people who also suffered losses because of his unwise business decisions. Moreover, his son and Balasudha's elder brother named Hari, is shifting to Dubai and asks his father to pay for the visa from the savings. At the same time, he himself suffers a cardiac arrest. To survive, doctors tell them that a surgery needs to be performed on him immediately.

The family is left with no choice but to utilize the money saved for Balasudha's marriage. After all the expenses, only meagre amount is left for Balasudha's wedding. When they tell their plight to Suraj's family they feel insulted. Angry, they break the alliance. Even Suraj doesn't take a stand for Balasudha. Balasudha is left heartbroken. She feels betrayed by Suraj who didn't oppose his family's decision and support her. The show then traces her trials and tribulations and how she fights her circumstances to emerge victorious. Shelly Kishore, who is a well-known television actress and is remembered for her role in the serial Kumkumapoovu, essayed the role of Balasudha. Mazhavil Manorama is the channel who telecasted the show.
