A confident girl, who knew ever since she performed in a college play that she wanted to be an actress- Parvathy was born in a Malayali family in Abu Dhabi, UAE. She is an Indian model and actor. She completed her secondary education in Abu Dhabi and resumed senior secondary education in Kerala, India. Parvathy graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Software Engineering and worked for a brief period before committing to the silver screen. Before taking onto acting as a full-time job, Parvathy ventured into modelling and bagged the titles of “Miss Karnataka” in 2009 and “Miss Navy Queen” in 2010.

She became the face of Mysore Sandal Soap and appeared in many commercials. Nair began her acting career with a debut in V.K. Prakash’s Poppins in 2012. She had also commented on wanting to contest for the Miss India Beauty Pageant but could not apply due to the height eligibility criteria of the contest.

On various occasions, she has been called ruthless, awesome and impressive by the movie critics and viewers. Ashwathy Kurup, popularly known as Parvathy Menon, was born to a couple in Kaviyoor, Thiruvalla. She was second of the three children. While she completed her primary education at the same school where her mother was a mathematics teacher, she graduated from NSS Hindu College, Changanacherry, with a Bachelors of Science and was a vivacious Mohiniyattam Dancer. It was here that she first got introduced to a camera. Though her first film was shelved, she made her debut at the age of 16 in 1986 with Vivahitare Itihile, directed by Balachandra Menon. With a short-lived career in the industry (1986-1993), Parvathy has 64 major and minor roles in Malayalam movies to her credit. It was during the shoot of her movie, Aparan that she first met her now husband, Jayaram. Since then, she and Jayaram had worked on multiple projects together until 7th of September 1992 when they tied the knot. Parvathy quit her career post marriage and dedicated her time to family. It was in an interview that she mentioned that she does not regret her decision of quitting cinema and also said that “If there is a good salary earned by the husband why should the wife work?". Today she resides in Tamil Nadu with her husband and two children- Kalidas and Malavika Jayaram. Kalidas Jayaram is a National Award winner for Best Child Actor for his work in Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum (2003) alongside his father. Even though she quit the silver screen more than a decade ago, Parvathy is remembered for her roles in Amrutham Gamaya (1987), Ponmuttayidunna Tharavu (1989), Vadakkunokkiyantram and Kireedam (1989). In an interview with The Times of Indian in 2013, the 45-year-old dancer said that she always gets nervous before a performance. Despite quitting the silver screen years ago, the elegant dancer continues to win more hearts while staying connected with her fans through her stage performances.
