Last Week Tonight With John Oliver is an American late-night show that is created and hosted by Emmy winner John Oliver, a comedian. It airs at 11 pm every Sunday on the HBO channel. It had a total of seven seasons and 196 episodes. Last week tonight is a satirical news show, where the host discusses all the important political and social stories that have happened the previous week. John Oliver also focuses on the things the media has missed if they are significant.
There are two segments in the show, one where he gives a brief description of a few headlines, and the later segment where he discusses the topic of the day in-depth. The show opens with a gist of the previous week’s stories and their related videos. The host then moves on to the main segment, where he states facts and his opinions, coating them with satire. John Oliver also uses mascots in some of his episodes to entertain the audience.
