Comedy has gone a long way in the Tamil industry. Legends from the era of the black and white to the comedians today, we have a galaxy of illustrious, talented individuals who have shaped and led the industry to where it is right now. To recognize and honor their comical geniuses, Vijay TV hosted the Vijay Comedy Awards in 2018. The event was planned to take place in the Chennai Trade Centre in Nadambakkam. Comedians like Robo Shankar, Munishkanth, Sathish, Suri, Yogi Babu, and Daniel Pope were part of the program.
Actors like M.S Bhasker, Senthil, Mouli, and Crazy Mohan also graced the red carpet. There were various categories upon which the celebrities were tested and awarded, like Best Comedian of the Year 2017, Best Comedy Supporting Actor (female and male), Best Dialogue Writer for Comedy, Best Comedy Pair, and so on. In addition, there were musical numbers by Malavika Diwakar and Nivas, and dance performances by Maa Ka Paa, Nisha, and Harathi. The show was hosted by the talented DD.
