Plot
Sivagnanam is the son of Ponnarasan. They live in Mankollai. Gnanam returns from Ramanathapuram to join the government-aided school, which was run by his father. Sakthivel tries to stop Sivagnanam from clearing the illiteracy. What were the steps taken by Sivagnanam Sir to make the village an educated place? The rest of the film speaks about it.
Star Performance
Vimal has performed excellently. His performance is impressive in serious scenes and very natural, too. Saravanan has done a good job portraying the father’s role. His character’s idea about education is different, and he emotes well in the intense sequences. Chaya looks good and also performs well. Siraj’s performance as an antagonist is decent.
Analysis
Bose Venkat’s story is not unique, but the screenplay is right-paced. The characters are well-developed and the right stars are fixed. The dialogues are good, and designed not to hurt anyone’s feelings. Ponnarasan’s vision on education is finely depicted and Saravanan did the role pretty well. The production design is good. The visuals are pretty decent and the editing should have been crisper. The songs are the hurdles to the story’s flow; at least one song should have been cut.

Verdict
Sir is yet another decent film that showcases the importance of education amidst casteism and social status. For the performance of the stars and Venkat’s execution, the film is definitely watchable once!
