In Sethupathi, Vijay Sethupathi is donning the role of a cop, for the first time in his career. Let’s see whether this step proves successful.
Sethupathi kickstarts with a cop who is burnt while he is still alive. This enrages Sethupathi, a righteous cop and he is bent on teaching a lesson or two to the baddie. But as fate would have it Sethupathi’s image is taken a toll due to an accident. How Sethupathi goes on to prove himself forms the rest of the story.
Vijay Sethupathi gets into the skin of his character of a tough cop; he essays the role of a cop with both intelligence and muscular strength with great ease. Also, his dialogue delivery is near-perfect. Remya Nambeesan looks pretty and has done a neat job. The two children in the movie touch our hearts with their naivety, and they give a sprightly performance. Vela Ramamurthy does a commendable job as the villain.
We have seen such cops in Kollywood and are used to applauding them. But director S U Arunkumar, who has collaborated with Vijay Sethupathi in Pannayarum Padminiyum earlier, sees to it that he narrates the story in a convincing manner. And he has astutely exploited Vijay Sethupathi’s acting prowess.
What’s not there?
We get nostalgic of seeing various films.
Watch the movie for Vijay Sethupathi’s power-packed performance and the director’s effort to reinforce that the police force also has a good side. Just enjoy the movie with your family.
