An undercover police agent is sent to a haunted village and falls in love with a woman there.

Plot: The story involves a police officer, Sibiraj, who is sent for investigation to the old village of Ayanpuram to investigate paranormal activity, complained about by the inhabitants. Sibiraj, also referred to as ‘Bullet Satya’ in the movie due to his excellent shooting skills, visits the village as an investigator. The village is disturbed by the presence of the ghosts, primarily of British people, who torment the people of the area. But, winning his love is not so easy for the investigator as the girl’s father puts forward a condition which Sibiraj should fulfill before he can marry his lady love. Sibiraj must spend and endure several days in a haunted house which will also have another suitor of Bindu inhabiting it. Will Sibiraj be able to handle the ghosts and win his lover’s hand in marriage or will he succumb to the horror of the place is what is in store for the audience at the theater?

Director, DharaniDharam’s first movie, Burma, had set a benchmark, and we expected something of the same measure, but this film fails to do so. The story is written well, and the script is well prepared, but the screenplay is disappointing. Apart from the horror and comedy, the movie tries to weave through a beautiful story of love too.

Star Performances: The film sees Sibiraj, Sathyaraj, and Bindu Madhavi in lead roles. The character of an undercover police investigator is played to perfection by Sibiraj. Sathyaraj essays the role of the ghost in a perfect manner and manages to instill fear in the audience. Bindu Madhavi’s role of the local lover of the cop is short but still she does complete justice to the character.

What’s There:

1. The acting is proficient, and the audience will definitely be entertained.

2. The horror stills are worth watching and will give goose bumps.

3. The comic punches and funny dialogues are also well written.

What’s Not There:

1.The story lacks focus and a certain point of time the plot becomes foggy.

2. The screenplay is disappointing.

3. The element of horror is less than the comic element.

Verdict: ‘Jackson Durai’ is a good effort but could have been better. The comic endeavor and the horror chills will make up for a good entertainer. It is not as laudable as the director’s earlier venture but nevertheless is enjoyable, and the audience should give it a try and visit theaters for the movie.
