Plot: Vegam is one such movie that has a story line like every other alternate movie. The concept is no different, and one can easily guess what is coming up. The story is about two friends, Sidhu and David, who have absolutely contrasting characters. While David is hard-working, Sidhu is lazy and finds easier ways to get rid of things. They both live together in a Gujarati colony in Mattancherry. David works as the salesman of electronic devices and earns enough for himself while Sidhu works as a pizza delivery man and earns poorly.

As a result, Sidhu, who is also in love with Meera and wishes to marry her, decides to do something that will help him get a huge amount at once. David, being his friend is unable to decline help to Sidhu. There are no rewards for guessing that the two land in trouble and start having a conflict of views. At the same time, Benny, who had been working in the Gulf for years, lands in trouble when he loses all the jewelry that he had brought for his daughter’s wedding. The film automatically starts moving to expected plots.

Then there’s another racketeer group involved with the story, and somehow they go against each other. The remaining of the story is just to see how the matter ultimately comes to an end which, just like the rest of the story is similar to most other movies today.

Analysis: The movie has no new concept to it. One always feels like they have watched it before and predicting what’s going to happen next in the film is not at all difficult. It should have been fast and with a lot more thrill, but it does not happen how you expect it. Also, it is also pretty much a copy of another movie Neram. The film has its own highs and lows and though it does not bore you and the two sides have been mixed well, but it is so predictable and has the same drama and standard that you cannot hold on to it for a long time.

It seems the director, K G Anil Kumar Anil Kumar was widely recognized in the India Film >> Read More... has done all he could to make it interesting, but the plot is too normal to gain attention. He could have used his skills to make the theme and format far more appreciable. With nothing to attract the film just tends to slow down. Apart from this, the cinematography is just good enough. Govind Menon Govind Menon is an Indian music composer, singer, >> Read More... of the Thaikuddum Bridge band has done the music, and they deserve immense appreciation. Also, credit must be given to Vineeth Kumar Vineeth Kumar is a Malayalam actor and film direct >> Read More... ’s dubbing skills, but maybe a better platform is needed for him to develop his ability.

Star Performances: Vineeth Kumar plays Sidhu while Jacob Gregory Jacob Gregory has mainly worked in Malayalam films >> Read More... plays David. Vineeth has the upper hand among the two for he is pretty convincing in both acting and his dubbing skills. On the other hand, Jacob just does it well. Samkruthy Shenoy, who plays Meera, has no chance. Performance by the others in the cast is pretty impressive too. Jojo, P Balachandran, and Prathap Pothen, as supporting actors are ones who have done nice performances. Basically, the acting is pretty well done except they just fall out at parts. The direction is what seems to be at worse and makes the movie lethargic and uninteresting.

What’s there? One can expect good and appreciable acting from the actors. Thrill and excitement is definitely seen at some parts. The music too deserves a lot of appreciation.

What’s not there? There is actually lack of a new plot, and it seems like a revised version of most recent movies. The movie has nothing to attract the audience. The film loses all points in a direction, creativity, and originality.

Verdict: The movie has a small plot with even smaller execution and inferior creativity. The biggest problem is that Vegam is actually a combination of a lot of films, and it lacks originality at most. While the actors have performed well, the film loses in direction. Mostly, it has no new concept, and if you haven’t ever watched a movie belonging to this genre, it is pretty fine for a one time watch.
