PLOT:
Deven Yuvvraaj (Salman Khan) is a singer, who has run away from his home in his childhood as he could not stand his millionaire father.
Anushka (Katrina Kaif) loves her Cello more than herself, and Deven and her, love each other mutually. Her father, Dr. Banton (Boman Irani), dislikes Deven, as he is poor. So he signs an agreement that he would get him married to his daughter only if he becomes a billionaire in the next 40 days.
Deven, disappointed, receives information about his father’s death and goes to his family in the greed of getting his share in the property. He is surprised to find that his father’s will has accommodated the entire amount to his brother, Gyanesh Yuvvraaj (Anil Kapoor), who is autistic. He also finds that he has another brother, Danny Yuvvraaj (Zayed Khan), who is a womanizer.
Both of them plan to cheat Gyanesh and want to inherit the property.
Danny tries to assault Gyanesh after failing to make him lie in front of the lawyers. Now, Deven plays the good guy and approaches Gyanesh as his well-wisher.
Deven takes Gyanesh to Austria in a chance to get closer to him, and there he introduces him to Anushka. Here, Anushka recognizes the singing talent of Gyanesh and lets him perform in an orchestra, where his performance in front of thousands of people, receives good appreciation.
On the other hand, Danny now approaches his brothers and becomes a changed man. Even Deven changes and the trio become all affectionate when the expected villains create the expected drama. They show Gyanesh a video in which his brothers discuss how to cheat him and how to snatch his property. Though devoid of all money, Gyanesh feels that he was cheated and get attacked by asthma. He finds his inhaler, which was already poisoned by the villains, and hence falls unconscious. Gyanesh is taken to the hospital where the only doctor to treat him would be Dr. Banton, as expected again, and he refuses to treat him as Deven is trying to protect him only for his money.
Deven approaches the doctor and explains that if he treats his brother, he would never marry Anushka and would leave from her life forever. Banton sees a changed Deven and helps his family.
The movie ends on a happy note where Banton allows Deven to marry his daughter.
ANALYSIS:
The script is as clichéd as Subhash Ghai’s previous films. We can see tinges of his previous films in many scenes. Though it is repetitive, it suits the movie. The script has no unexpected twists and turns, hence it’s watchable for the family audience.
STAR PERFORMANCES:
The role of Deven as a selfish and careless person is executed by Salman very well.
Though the performances of Salman and Katrina are well appreciated, Anil Kapoor steals the show. His role as a mentally handicapped person was performed exceptionally well.
WHAT'S THERE?
1. There is Subhash Ghai’s style of movie making.
2. Music is fantastic and heals the mind.
3. Cinematography and the grandiose sets bring joy in watching the film.
WHAT'S NOT THERE?
1. The script is boring and unremarkable.
2. The entire story is well-expected and doesn’t give your brain any exercise to watch.
VERDICT:
This movie, with the performances of Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan, added with great cinematography and pleasant music, is always watchable.
