Navneet Nishan was born on October 25, 1965. her father was an Army officer. Most of her childhood was spent in Patiala and Chandigarh. She joined National School of Drama after completion of her education in Delhi and soon established herself as a devout theatre artist. Like all other artists her relocation to Mumbai was just a matter of time and in Mumbai also she soon established herself as an artist with great acting mettle.

She has worked in a number of movies with great success some of which are Waaris in which she debuted, Dilwale, Khuddar, , Achanak, Janam Samjha Karo, Salaam-e-Ishq and many more. She was also seen in 2010 movie ''. She also acted in a number of successful Punjabi movies and some of them are Ik Kudi Punjab Di in 2010, R.S.V.P. In 2013 and Aa Gaye Munde UK De in 2014.

after making her place in Hindi and Punjabi movies, Navneet turned towards TV serials where also she held her flag high. She put up a great performance in Tara which was aired on Zee TV during 1993-97 in which she played the character of Tara, the female lead and was immediately a talk of the households. It was probably the first Hindi serial on the life of a present day contemporary girl which continued for more than 5 years. Apart from Tara she also acted in a number of Zee TV serials over the years the last one being Madhubala-Ek Ishq Ka Junoon.

Navneet is also a director and costume designer apart from being an actress.
