Half Girlfriend is a romantic entertainer directed by Mohit Suri. The film is adapted from the novel of the same name, written by India’s favorite writer, Chetan Bhagat. Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor play the lead roles. Vikrant Massey, Rhea Chakraborty, Seema Biswas and Felix Shindraj are also in the cast. The film is produced by Shoba Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Mohit Suri and Chetan Bhagat. The song scoring is by Mithoon, Tanishk Bagchi, Rishi Rich, Farhan Saeed, Ami Mishra and Rahul Mishra and the background score is by Raju Singh. Vishnu Rao is the cinematographer.

Madhav Jha from Bihar gets a seat in St. Stephen’s College, a prestigious college affiliated with Delhi University. He gets in the college with the sports quota and not by the marks. Riya Somani joins the college with high ambition. Riya is rich and she is affluent in English, which Madhav don’t possess. As usual, Madhav falls for Riya. His friend Shailesh advises him not to continue the single-sided love, which might end in trouble. But, Madhav doesn’t lend his ears to Shailesh. However, Riya concentrates only on her goal. What is her goal? Did she achieve it? What is Madhav’s share in Riya’s goal? Watch the film on the big screens!

Star Performance

Vikrant Massey, who played Shailesh had done his role perfectly. Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha had done their roles as per directed. However, Arjun should have concentrated more on his performance and his accent.

Mohit Suri, who gave good films like Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain, has chosen a script by Chetan Bhagat. Although he has chosen a different script, it doesn’t impress a particular set of audiences. Mohit might have chosen this script with the breezy love track, to attract the youngsters and it has worked out.

What’s There?

  • Arjun and Shraddha attracts the audiences with their breezy romance track
  • Vikrant’s impressive performance
  • Mohit Suri’s narration is good

What’s Not There?

  • Music doesn’t attract
  • Arjun Kapoor’s Bihari accent

The film is targeted at youth and it works out well. It depends on the mood of the people, who watch it. Some people might go nostalgic on seeing the campus story. Although the film is not a must watch one, it could be watched once.
