According to the recent reports, the filmmaker has joined hands with Netflix India for a long term creative partnership, which will take Indian storytelling on a global scale. Ekta Kapoor has been one of the most influential storytellers in the Indian content diaspora, who has been equally criticized for her melodramatic soap operas.

A couple of months ago, Ekta Kapoor decided to join hands with none other than The Viral Fever aka TVF, which is well known for giving cult classics on the OTT platform like Panchayat, Aspirants, Gullak, Very Parivarik etc. for a cult horror movie Vvan. Interestingly, Ekta Kapoor had herself tried her hands in the OTT domain way back in 2017, when she launched ALT Balaji, later renamed to ALTT. Initially, she made a mark with series like The Test Case, Bose : Dead / Alive, Apharan etc. However, her urge to commercialize the space backfired with series like Gandi Baat, XXX etc., for which the producer was also questioned by the authorities. Ekta Kapoor last produced the movie The Sabarmati Report, which turned out to be a commercial dud at the box office last year.
