Ekta Kapoor No Longer Associated With ALTT, Clarifies Balaji Telefilms

Balaji Telefilms has issued a statement, clarifying that Ekta Kapoor is not associated in anyway with the defunct OTT platform ALTT. The producer cum director had left the platform as the supervisor in late 2021 itself.

In case you are not aware, ALTT is one of the 22 apps recently banned by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for spreading obscenity. ALTT was founded in 2017 as Alt Balaji, which would serve as the OTT extension for Balaji Telefilms.

Initially, Alt Balaji shot to instant fame, giving giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime a tough run for their money! However, the platform fizzled out with one flop show after the other. The icing on the cake was the web series Gandi Baat, which unfortunately became the blot Alt Balaji could never remove at all.

This is not the first time that Ekta had to face trouble for her content. Apart from the controversy around the movie The Sabarmati Report, Ekta was also scolded by the courts for the portrayal of the armed forces in the web series XXX, for which she was forced to apologize.
