This movie brings you another typical story of 3 cheated-on women who come across very strong sisterhood as they try to take revenge from the man who have wronged them in the most predictable and seemingly hilarious romantic comedy.
Plot:
Cameron Diaz
plays the role of the sharp and successful
New York
attorney, Carly, who comes to know that her boyfriend is married to Leslie Mann’s character, a borderline paranoid and anxious wife, Kate. As they become friends and realize what Kate’s husband is up to, they come across the other girl who is also falling into the traps of the man who have been cheating on them. Together, they join forces and try to seek revenge from the man who had been three-timing with them.
Even though the details and the characters are fresh, but it can be called a spin-off from the movie “The First Wives Club,” as they have the same plot-line. It is very much predictable as to what is about to happen in the movie just after Carly and Kate meet each other and find out about their man. Moreover, it is a little discomforting to watch such amazing comedians like Diaz and Mann cram their talents into this movie to fit into the kind of script and dialogues which clearly fail to pack a punch. Moreover, the character of Kate’s good-looking brother who provides for an apt excuse as Carly’s new love interest seems to be only in the movie to prove that some men can also be good and deserving and not always cheating on their romantic partners.
The movie seems to be playing at the more feminist angle with three women teaming up to take on the man who had been cheating on them all at the same time and trying to prove that women can also achieve their goals when they join forces or something of that sort. However, with no help from the unimpressive background score, the poor direction does not have anywhere to hide and eventually leads to this movie being the most clichéd and predictable comedies ever.
Verdict: To this stereotypical movie about women joining forces to take revenge from a man who has wronged them, I give this movie 1 out of 5 victories.
