Romance and survival in one plot make it an inventive story for the viewers. ‘The Mountain Between Us’ is directed by Hany Abu-Assad, starring Idris Elba Idrissa Akuna Elba, most widely known as Idris Elb >> Read More... and Kate Winslet From television appearances to Hollywood’s film cr >> Read More... , where Idris is playing a role of neurosurgeon and Kate of a journalist. This film was released on 6 October 2017 and is a survival based story involving great turn of events in the entire movie.

Plot :

Two strangers get run aground on a mountain top due to a plane crash and suffer a lot of injuries having to survive the wrath of the weather. They decide to wait on the mountaintop for help and when they see no help can be taken from anyone they start making their way down the mountain fighting through various obstacles. Having to trust each other to survive the extremities, they begin a treacherous journey.

Analysis :

The film trying to be different and combining two genres is where the trouble began from. It has strenuous things to believe in its plot. The director caught hold of neither the romantic part of the story nor the survival.

Star performance:

Abu-Asad was determined not to shoot the film in a studio and to shoot it in real places. Working at such heights is laborious, but both the actors had put in a lot of effort in all the scenes that were shot on the mountaintop with heavy snow. Kate drew on her Titanic experiences to survive the cold.

What’s there?

1. It is a nail biter whether the main characters will survive or not and if they do how the story of their survival goes about.

2. The film wasn’t given much a positive response but, it got uplifted by the performances of Idris Elba and Kate Winslet.

What’s not there?

1. The film focuses more on the love story of Alex and Ben and struggles to balance the portrayal of their survival.

2. The duration of the film was unnecessarily lengthy and had become a tedious love story to bear with because it was impairing the essence of the survival in the plot.

Verdict :

On the upside, the locations of the film were lovely, and the stars have enticed quite an audience. On the whole, the movie is very comforting and justifies the love story involved in the plot.
