Plot
A cataclysmic event in Dr. Martin Steiner's Ashburn Laboratories in Chicago takes the lives of millions present, leaving behind shadowy specters of the event's victims- "remnants" who walk the world alongside regular humans, repeating specific actions in a loop. Ten years after the tragedy, high schooler Veronica Calder is on vengeful and ominous remnant Brian's radar, who warns Veronica of her impending doom. Determined to protect herself and uncover the truth, Veronica embarks on a quest for discovery with her occult-fanatic classmate Kirk, as they learn of terrifying revelations, motives and the truth associated with the apocalyptic tragedy that changed the course of history a decade prior forever.
Star Performance
The film owes it's gripping nature to star Bella Thorne's evocative portrayal of her character as well as Richard Harmon and Dermot Mulroney, who were both fantastic, and whose solid and accurate acting really made the characters shine bright on the big screen.
Analysis
The film scores exceptionally well from a technical soundpoint: the cinematography is melancholic and moody, perfectly in-tune with the movie thematically. The atmospheric soundtrack sets the tone right for the overall film, and adds to the excellent performance by the cast members. While some moments in the film are adept at proving to be quite creepy and disturbing, they cannot take away the increasingly sluggish aspect of the pace in which the film follows through. The script starts strong with an interesting, bright plot and becomes increasingly difficult to sit through, owing to its monotonous nature. Although the film is more of a slow burn that may come across as a supernatural teen romance story, it is packed with suspenseful twists and a climax that does the story justice.

Verdict
The film is engaging enough to keep you interested throughout, although the script could be seemingly assumed as poorly written once in a while. The cast's performance makes it a must- watch however, and if a lighthearted supernatural teen flick with twists and turns and mild horror elements seems like your cup of tea, then this movie is worth your time.
