An ancient tree in South America is found to cure illness, remove the curses and heal all the wounds. After hearing this, Don Aguirre, a Spanish conquistador, searches for the tree. Puka Michuna tribe helps the conquistadors to heal the wound with a special flower from a tree. When Don and the team ask about it, the tribal chief refuses to reveal the tree. So, Don destroys the village and stabs the chief. While dying, he curses the rest of the conquistadors and make them stay there as immortals. After centuries, Dr. Lily Houghton, who wanted to save the mankind, researches about the tree? Was she able to find it out? The rest of the story deals with it.
Dwayne Johnson fits well in the role. Emily Blunt and Jack Whitehall did a good job to support DJ.
Although the film starts in a good note, we could see too many characters roaming around. Not all the times we could guarantee a satisfactory high-budgeted film. Although there are not-so-necessary characters created, the script didn’t get much affected. Some of the characters are neatly handled. The director wanted to satisfy the audience with action, sentiment and comedy and he wins in it partially. The VFX works are not much impressive and the BGM is a bit louder.
What’s Not There?
The film comes with a wholesome entertainment pack with action, sentiment, and comedy. With a different script and neat performances, the Jungle Cruise is an okayish watch!
