A new order is passed in the Government Gazette and the shops and the establishments in Tamil Nadu could be operated for 24 hours. What are the rules? Here you go… The shops and other establishments in TN could operate for 24 hours and this had been the request by A M Vikramaraja, the President of the trading associations. This had been permitted to increase job opportunities and to develop the industries and production. This GO will apply for the next three years. But the weekly holidays should be given to the employees as usual and this is also given in detail in the government order.
As per the GO, a woman employee shall not be required to work beyond 8 p.m. on any day in normal circumstances, provided that the employer after obtaining the written consent of a woman employee shall allow her to work between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. subject to providing adequate protection, dignity, honor and safety. Transport arrangements shall be provided to the woman employee who works in shifts. Every employer employing women employee shall constitute an internal complaints committee against sexual harassment of women under the Sexual Harassment of Women At Workplace Act 2013 and the said committee shall be operative.
