Pratap Pothen, the popular Tamil and Malayalam film actor cum director, was found dead at his residence in Chennai. Pratap made his debut as an actor in 1978 in a Malayalam film, Aaravam. He made his debut as a director with the Tamil film Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai with
in 1985. He won the Indra Gandhi award for the Best Debut Director. Pratap and Radhika tied the knot after this film, but their marriage ended in a year.
Later, Pratap married a corporate professional, Amala Satyanath, in 1990. The couple has a daughter Keya Pothen, born in 1991. In 2012, Amala and Pratap got divorced. Pratap had been living in his house in Kilpauk, Chennai. He was found dead today morning, and the reports stated that it was a natural death. Yet, the police will investigate further.
Pratap was popular for his roles in Moodupani as a psycho lover and Panneer Pushpangal as an ideal teacher. He was last seen in Tamil with
starrer Ponmagal Vandhaal and in Malayalam with "Mammooty" in CBI 5. His last movie is yet to be released with "
