Legendary Carnatic musician Dr. “M. Balamuralikrishna” passed away today in Chennai. He had been suffering from age-related health issues.The 86-year-old musician was conferred with the honorary civilian awards, Padma Shree, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan for his rendition to the Indian arts. He was also awarded the legendary Chevalier Award by the French Government for his service to the music industry. He was born in Sankaraguptam in Andhra Pradesh. He is versatile not only in vocal but Veena, Violin and Flute. Right from the age of six, he has been in the music field. Besides singing in the Sankaraguptam in Andhra Pradesh. Besides singing in the Carnatic music concerts, the Music Maharaja had sung enormous songs in various Indian languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada and Sanskrit. He had also composed music for two Sanskrit films, Adi Sankaracharya and Bhagavad Gita. Till his death, he breathed music and music only. The music industry has lost its precious gem.
