,” who has been fondly addressed as Dasettan by his colleagues and fans, turns 80, today. Started his career in 1961, the legend has recorded more than 80, 000 songs in various Indian languages and English, Arabic and Russian. The Gana Gandharvan is very much suitable for the epithet, as he had attracted crores of people with his magnetic voice. Yesudas had sung a lot of devotional songs too.
Being a Christian by birth, this legend has no religion. He is a devotee of Lord Ayappa and had been visiting Sabarimala regularly. His Harivarasanam song has been played in the Sabarimala temple at the end of the day when they finish all the poojas for the day. May this legend sing more songs and entertain the audience!
