is once again in the news, but neither for ‘Kantara’ nor for his National Award.
The Kannada actor cum director has raked up controversy with one of his statements. During the promotion of a movie, Rishab Shetty mentioned about how some Indian movies, particularly Bollywood, show India in a bad light. On the other hand, people like him try to show their language, their culture, their identity in a positive light. Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara’ had won two National Awards : one for Best Actor [Rishab Shetty] and one for ‘Best Popular Film with Wholesome Entertainment’.
This led to mixed reactions online. While most of the moviebuffs supported Rishab Shetty, many people tried to corner him for allegedly promoting misogyny and problematic things in his movie ‘Kantara’. However, none of them could logically counter Rishab Shetty’s views on any note.
Meanwhile Rishab Shetty is working undeterred on the prequel of ‘Kantara’. The movie will once again see Rishab Shetty in the lead role, and will show the origins of the Panjurli, as well as the Guliga Daiva. The movie will be made in multiple languages, including Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam.
