His debut was in Premada Kanike that released in 1976. Until 1984, he was credited as Master Lohith in his film appearances as the child actor. From 1985, he was credited as Master Puneeth and in the same year, he received the National Award for the Best Child Artist.
In 2002, he made his debut as the hero in Appu with Rakshitha Prem. The film was directed by
