' was criticized severely by Indonesian government over his visit to Gunung Leuser National Park in Northern Sumatra. Dicaprio met environmental activists there and shared some pics of him with an orangutan.
He commented on Instagram that the forest which is home to these animals should be protected and saved from peril by the growing palm oil industry. Indonesia is the world’s largest palm oil producer and contributes to almost half of the annual GDP of South Asian nations.
Indonesian government strongly criticized Dicaprio and said that his visa only permits him to do tourist activities and if he gets involved in other activities such as creating public disruption, the immigration department is ready to deport him.
Nine million hectares of indigenous forest have been destroyed till now for extraction of these palm oils these forests are home these Sumatran orangutan.
