Padukone who is progressing in her acting skills at the speed of changing relationship statuses nowadays left no stone unturned in adopting the character of an independent woman and a dutiful daughter.
We’re sure nobody would deny the fact that the movie didn’t seem like a made up story with that amount of effortless acting. The highlight being Miss Deepika’s expressions! We know you noticed it too, and if you didn’t then we have always got your back.
1. The Tragically Optimistic expression which makes us go ‘Awwwdorable’! Piku is overlooking from the first floor of her ancestral home at the lanes leading out to the main road. Her droopy eyes and her frowning mouth expressing the pain of the absence of her mother. Maybe her father became grumpy after her mother passed away.
2. The Suave ‘Like a Boss’ expression which is empowering. Obviously, the road trip which had a toilet chair tied on top of the car! The situation which totally went out of hand and Piku handled with finesse by almost threatening the owner of the cab company who actually ended up driving her to the destination himself, with her father sleeping like a baby at the back, justifying her eagle-eyed expression.
3. The Pressure Cooker’s Whistle which resonates with many girls. Every hero has his own flaws! Miss Padukone can totally carry out the contradiction between a womanly poise to a typical teenage tantrum.
4. The beady-eyed little girl’s expression. Even though she is the ‘epitome of a mother’ in the guise of a daughter to her father, she is still her Father’s little girl. Miss Padukone balances the mannerisms with flair.
5. The content and accepting expression which makes us satisfied ourselves. Eventually, Piku loves her father and is altruistic about it. She knows that she has to fill in the void of the absence of a mother in the family. She’s more than happy to fit in the shoes.
6. The ‘Almost in Love’ Expression which keeps us on our toes. Here she gets out the expected coy and shy expressions of a Bollywood actress. Carefully, not overdoing it by staying in the character and yet revealing a mellow side to her personality. Brownie Points!
7. The Dimpled smile that makes every man and woman fall weak on their knees. Albeit, Piku has really fewer moments where you get to see her smiling. The moments’ where she does is a soothing sight for the sore eyes!
8. The Kohl-lined serious look that fills us with awe. She is assertive. She is confident. She can bring you up and take you down. Watch out!
9. The 'Sanskaari' yet 'Screw You' that make you feel smug. She follows the rules but on her own terms. Something we should think about.
10. The Baby Doll face which is why ‘Replay’! Amidst the chaos, finding the inner child. The satiated feeling after relieving oneself from constipation! Altogether, Piku is one film in which Miss Deepika brings out her debonair acting skills and leaves us with admiration for this doe-eyed, dimple-face lady!
