P. Kalaimani was born in the year 1950 in Tamil Nadu. He was a very famous director, producer and writer in the tamil film industry. He has worked in more than hundred movies and has written screenplay scenes, dialogues, film story baseline and many more. Sadly, he died in 2012 on the 3rd of April due to prolonged illness in Chennai, India. His age was sixty-two only at the time of his death. The name of his wife is Saraswati. She made him survive during the last days by looking after him all the time. He was suffering from various diseases and for a long time as well due to which his health degraded and he became very weak.
It was for Saraswati’s hard work that he had survived. He was active in the tamil film industry since 1977 and has been a part of this Industry for the past thirty years and more. Having worked in more than a hundred movies throughout his career, he has seen both success and failure from very close. All his works are praiseworthy, but some of his most notable and famous works are ‘16 Vayanthille’, which was directed by Bharathiraaj and it was his debut work in 1977 when he first stepped into the Industry, ‘Man Vasanai’, ‘Gopurangal Saivathille’, ‘Ingeyum Oru’ and many more. The state government of Tamil Nadu had awarded him with the title ‘Kalaimamani’.
Apart from only writing stories for several films, he has even directed and produced some movies. Sathyaraj and Vijaykant were very famous directors and story writers in the 1980s and he worked with them in many films. He was very lucky to have got a chance to share the same place with these maestros. ‘Kuruvi’ was his last film as a dialogue and a story writer. He has also written and directed movies like ‘Theenkathi Kalla’ and ‘Manitha Jani’. His contribution to the tamil film industry is beyond words.
His stories were big success in films. He was a writer in many films like ‘Veerana’, ‘Shakalaka Baby’, ‘
’ during 2004 and 2005. All his films were big hits and though he did not act in any of them, but the dialogues that he wrote and the stories which he wrote were so pure and commendable that people after watching movies based on his story and dialogues would become speechless. Though he has left us at a very young age, but his works will forever be remembered. His contribution will always be held high. Tamil Film Industry will remain thankful to him.
