Naina is an iconic Hindi serial that aired on the channel Doordarshan. It was directed by Ambrish Sangal. The protagonist is Uma Sharma, a Kathak dancer, choreographer and teacher. Naina serial starts with a man reciting a poem about the different aspects of life. The entire serial runs from the point of view of the protagonist. She narrates stories about the people in her life, daily encounters, daily activities, and life in general. She interprets poetry as a song and portrays her feelings through dance. A majority of the episode is spent singing and dancing. Even the normal dialogues are said in the form of poetry or songs. In some episodes, a group of dancers gives performances in different locations.
