Shanti Priya is a popular and glamorous yesteryear actress who appeared in numerous Tamil movies and serials, Kannada movies, Telugu movies and Hindi Bollywood movies and a few Hindi serials. Shanti Priya is the sister of another nationally acclaimed South Indian actress Bhanu Priya. Shanti Priya is the actress’s screen name, and her original name is Nishanthi.

Shanti Priya made her debut at the age of 19 years with the blockbuster movie Enga Ooru Pattukaran in the year 1988. She then went on to star in a number of Tamil television serials and films in other languages also. Shanti Priya made her Bollywood debut with Akshay Kumar as the lead in the movie Saugandh. In the year 2002, Shanti Priya was seen in the fantasy science fiction serial which was also dubbed and made in Tamil opposite actor Mukesh Khanna- Aryamaan- Brahmand Ka Yoddha. She was also seen in popular Hindi and Tamil TV series- Mata Ki Chowki and Dwarkadheesh-Bhagwan Shree Krishna.

She was last in the box office dud Hamilton Palace (MURDERER) in the year 2011. Shanti Priya also starred in many Hindi feature films along with superstar Mithun Chakraborty. In the year 1999, Shanti Priya married fellow actor Siddharth Ray, nephew of the legendary V. Shantaram. She had two children with her husband, but her husband died in the year 2004 suffering from a massive heart attack. Currently, Shanti Priya acts in strong supporting character roles in Tamil movies and television serials.
