Paravai Muniyamma is an actress and a Tamil folk singer. She has prominently played supporting roles in many Tamil movies. Paravai Muniyamma has done more than 2000 stage shows in Malaysia, Singapore and London and did playback singing for many films.
She was born in 1943 as Muniyamma Karuppiah. Muniyamma hosts her own cookery show on Kalaignar TV. Her acting career started with the movie Dhool (2011). She has done many roles, mainly that of a grandmother.
She was lastly seen in “

” (2014), which is a Tamil movie. Paravai has been in the news lately because of her health, and she was provided help by the Tamil government when she was ill. Dhanush went to meet her in the hospital in Madurai, when she was under treatment.
On 29th March 2020, due to age-related illness, she breathed her last in Madurai.
