Bala Murali Krishna Bio Coming Soon... >> Read More... is the popular Carnatic Vocalist and the renowned Playback singer in Indian cinema. He was born in the year 1930 in East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh as Murali Krishna. As his father was a popular musician, Murali Krishna learnt to play the musical instruments at his young age. At the young age of eight, child Murali Krishna vocalized the Thyagaraja Keerthanas in a big concert. By seeing his amazing talent, the popular Harikatha master Musunuri Suryanarayana Murty Bhagavatar, prefixed Bala to Murali Krishna.
At the age of 15, he became the master of all the Melakarta 72 ragas. Apart from singing the Carnatic songs, he plays Violin, Kanjira and Mridhangam. This legend has performed more than twenty five thousand concerts in India and abroad. He had composed more than 400 songs in Tamil, Telugu, Sanskrit and Kannada. He has acted in a few movies and his career first movie was Bhaktha Prahalada, which got released in the year 1967. He rendered his voice to popular actors in playback singing.
His topmost songs in Tamil are Oru Naal Podhuma from the movie Thiruvilayadal for the veteran actor T. S. Balaiya and Chinna Kannan Azhaikkiran from the movie Kavikuyil for actor Sivakumar. His latest playback singing in the films is Anbalae Azhagagum Veedu from the Tamil movie Pasanga. Bala Murali Krishna has sung in many Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu films too. In the year 1976, he was awarded as the Best Singer with the National Award for the Kannada film Hamsageethe. In 1987, he was provided with the National Award as the Best Music Director for the movie Madhavacharya. In the same year he was awarded as the Best Playback singer for the movie Swathi Thirunaal, by the Kerala State Government.
This living music legend is honored with Honorary Doctorate and the civilian honors such as Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibushan and Padma Shri.
