Revathi Krishna is a Tamil renowned Indian veena player. She is a professional in Light and film music as well as in Carnatic classical. Her father Chelvakumar and mother Lakshmi named her Revathy Chelvakumar, later became Revathy Krishna. She has a brother Chandran, who was a cosmetic surgeon and has retired now. She is the great grand-daughter of Thillaisthanam Rama Iyengar, who was the devoted disciple of a great composer of Carnatic and Indian classical music, Saint Thyagaraja. Thus, she has the essence of the music from the disciple lineage of composer Thyagaraja. She started playing veena at the early age of 12 years. Before that, she received her training in vocals in Madurai from Therali Ramaswami Iyengar. Her mother spotted her interest in music and put her to train under Sundaram Iyer. Later, she trained under K.P.Sivanandam and Sharada Shivanandam to get her voice and Veena fine tuned by receiving the proper guidance from them. She has been credited with performing in many video and audio albums and also in films. She has also played songs of famous celebrities like A.R. Rahman, Rajnikanth and Kamal Hassan on veena which deeply touched the heart of the listening fans. She also plays professionally on stage and has composed in front of many great personalities and VVIPs like the Governor of Tamil Nadu at Raj Bhavan, APJ Abdul Kalam, who is the former President of India, World Tamil Conference of 2012, Veena Navarathri in 2007 at Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts.
