Pon Radhakrishnan, born on 1st March 1952 is an Indian politician associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He even served as a Lawyer, social activist and has worked hard for the betterment and upliftment of the people of Tamil Nadu. He is currently working as Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping in Shri “Narendra Modi's” cabinet. He has served as the minister of state for Youth Affairs. In the Third Vajpayee Ministry, he was appointed as the Minister Of State for Youth Affairs and even served as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation. He is elected from the region of Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu to the Lok Sabha.

Radhakrishnan was born in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari district. His parents were Thanga Kani and Ponniah Ayyappan. He belonged to a very respected and wealthy family from the Alathankarai village. He did his schooling from D.V.D.H. School in Nagercoil. His graduation was done from VHNSN College of Virudhu Nagar in Arts. Later, he went to Madras Law College in Chennai to pursue and complete his Law degree.

During 1990s, he got interest in politics and got interested to a rightist group named Hindu Munnani and started working at a lower level for the betterment. He first contested the elections for parliament in 1999 as a candidate representing BJP from the Nagercoil village and won the election with flying colors. He was appointed as the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and Sports at the time when first NDA (The National Democratic Alliance) Government was under the leadership of Shri ‘ Atal Bihari Vajpayee’. He served the position for years from September 30th, 2000, to January 29th, 2003. In due course, Radhakrishnan was even appointed as the Minister of State for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation for the tenure of eight months which were from January 30, 2003, to September 7, 2003. He has even been appointed the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways in the same year after finishing his tenure as the Monster for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation.

In his career span, he has even received failure. In his political career, he lost elections for two times. First was in the year 2004, and the second time he lost was in 2009. Eventually, he again gained the trust of the people and was elected by the people and won the Kanyakumari seat in the Lok Sabha election of 2014. Radhakrishnan won by defeating his contender with more than one lakh votes in the General Elections.

He has worked a lot for the betterment of the people and for the upliftment of Tamil Nadu. His some major contribution include Sethusamudram ship channel project. The project was based on for the improvement of the coastal region of Cargo in India and worked for the development of the Coastal Economic Zones (CEZ) in the country.

J. Anbazhagan is a Tamil Nadu MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly). He is a member of the party, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). During the 2001 elections, he was elected and became the MLA to the Theagaraya Nagar constituency. He served there for five years, till 2006. After that, he assumed his office from 2011 in the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni electorate. The constituency's location is in the Chennai district of Tamil Nadu. J. Anbazhagan was born in Chennai, and is currently residing in the same city. He is married and has two children. Even though he has a political career, his occupation is in the field of business. He went to Ramakrishna Mission Higher Secondary School, which is in Chennai, and passed in the year 1975. In 1980, he graduated with a degree from the University of Madras, Chennai. He has a BA in Economics. Anbazhagan is active in most of the social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. J. Anbazhagan has also contributed to the cinema industry. He produced the movie, “Aadhi Baghavan”. It was a film that released in 2013, and features Jayam Ravi in the lead, along with Neetu Chandra. It used the Auro 3D sound technology, and is the second of its kind in Asia. He was the distributor for the cinema, Yaaruda Mahesh, under the distribution banners, Anbu Pictures. It is an adult, comedy movie that has its release date in 2013. It has Sundeep Kishan and Dimple Chopade in the lead. The filming took place in Kerala and Chennai. Towards the end of July 2011, J. Anbazhagan was arrested by the District Crime Branch on charges of forcibly shifting management and ownership of a paper mill in Tripura, and was kept in the Coimbatore Central prison. During that time, he was the District Secretary of the party in the South Chennai region.

Karunanidhi

Karunanidhi, the Indian political leader, was born on 3rd June 1924 in Thirukkuvalai, a district in Nagapattinam as Dakshinamoorthy. His parents are Muthuvel and Anjugam. Karunanidhi was married to Padmavathy. After her death, he married Dayalu and Rajathi. Karunanidhi has four sons and two daughters. M. K. Muthu is his elder son and he was born to his first wife, Padmavathy. M. K. Alagiri is his second son, who resides in Madurai. M. K. Stalin, his third son, is also a politician and has been referred as his political heir. M. K. Tamilarasu is his fourth son. Selvi is his elder daughter and Kanimozhi is his youngest child and she is the daughter of Rajathi. Born in a Telugu family, Karunanidhi had been interested in Tamil and his poetry writing and script writing skills led him to the cinema. His first film was Rajakumari. He was the scriptwriter of the film. It was a huge hit and when he tasted his first success, he was just 20 years. He became popular in 1952 with “Parasakthi” featured by Sivaji Ganesan. He inserted his political ideologies through Parasakthi and from there he didn’t meet any slide in his cinema career. His career started at the Modern Theaters in Salem. Later, the scriptwriter cum dialogue writer moved to Chennai, the capital of Tamilnadu. Karunanidhi’s writing skill is being appreciated still. His poetries, biographies, novels, stage plays and cinema lyrics prove his excellence in handling the words. Although he entered the politics at his 14th age, he was acknowledged as a politician during his peak time in cinema. At his young age, he started his newspaper called Manavar Nesan. It was a handwritten newspaper and he supplied them directly to the readers. After his successful career in cinema, he gradually entered into politics with the support from CN Annadurai, who was the DMK party leader. Karunanidhi was first elected as an MLA in 1957. In 1967, he became the Public Works Minister. He became the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu for the first time in 1969. Karunanidhi had been the CM for five times, so far. In the latest elections that were held in 2016, his party men lost to the opponents ADMK, consecutively for the second time. Karunanidhi had been awarded an honorary doctorate in 1971 by Annamalai University, Chidambaram. He also received an honorary doctorate from Madurai Kamaraj University in 2006. Even at his 92, he has been active and has been working for his party. In 2018: Karunanidhi’s 94th birthday was celebrated in grandeur by the DMK people on 3rd June 2018. Karunanidhi couldn’t take part in the event due to some age-related illness, but the DMK cadres believed that he will get well soon and would speak with them. Later, they planned to celebrate the Golden Jubilee year of DMK under Karunanidhi’s leadership. But, it didn’t happen, due to the ill health of Karunanidhi. Karunanidhi suffered from urinary tract infection and was admitted to the Kauvery Hospital on 28th July 2018. He suffered from low BP and also had a troubled breathing. The DMK leader was monitored by the expert doctors and the nurses’ team 24x7. His health condition was stable only with the life support equipment. Although Karunanidhi had been given the right medications, his health started deteriorating.  Finally, Karunanidhi left for the eternal world on 7th August 2018 at 6:10 pm.
