Manushya Puthiran was born as S. Abdul Hameed on 15th March 1968. Manushya, hailing from Tamil Nadu, India, is a renowned poet and author. He is among the four children of his parents. The family used to reside in Thuvarankurichi, Tiruchirappalli District. Manushya Puthiran began his schooling at 7 and often used to steal a lot from his studies. It was because of this behaviour that he got late in receiving regular studies at school. After completing his schooling, he received a degree in Bachelor of Arts from Annamalai University. He had this degree from a distance learning programme.
He started going to college after 2nd year. He did not want to miss the fun and experiences of studying at a campus. After that, he received a dual master's degree, one in Mass Communication and another degree in history. Manushya Puthiran was 16 years old when his first poem was published. He got a column to write for the magazines like Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam, Kalki and Kalachuvadu. He used to write about politics and other topics for Tamil magazines like Kungumam and Nakkheeran. In January 2023, he was honoured with the designation of the president of the Chennai Municipal Library Commission.
