Remya Vinayakumar was born and brought up in Thrissur, which is famous for sacred places and festivals, located in Kerala. She has completed her schooling in Hari Sri Vidya Nidhi, in the year 2008.She joined engineering in the year 2010 and graduated from Sahrdaya College of Engineering in 2014.
She completed her master’s in computer science, in the year 2016 from the same college, Sahrdaya College of Engineering. Since her childhood, she had immense interest and zeal for learning music and she has always aimed at becoming a good singer.
She has been learning Carnatic music since last 15 years, and her learning is still going on, which shows her dedication towards music. Remya sings songs in three languages: Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Remya made her debut in the film industry as a singer with a Malayalam movie “
”, released in 2011 which was a dub of Hindi movie Race. I
n Malayalam, Race was released under the direction of Kukka Surendran, starring
. She had sung a song in Race, under the music direction of
and Viswajith. Her musical journey continued with a Tamil movie “Ettuthikkum Madhayaanai”, directed by K S Thangasamy in which she has sung a song “Kaathripeen” along with Sherdin Thomas under the music direction of Manu Ramesan.
Remya has explored different professions in the music industry. She works as a vocalist at The Solid Band and also she works as a playback singer. In addition to it, she entertains people being a live performer. She has performed live on August 19, 2017, at Hindustan Arts and Science College, in the event; she was paired up with Keyboardist Stephen Devassy.
She has sung “Adiye” song, from Kadal in a live concert; this was one of her rocking performance. Apart from rocking music, she is also skilled in soothing and calm Carnatic music and has sung “Nirupama Sudarakara”, and few other Carnatic songs on stage.
