Jithin Raj is a playback singer as well as an actor who has sung mainly in South Indian movies. He is a native of Malappuram, a district in Kerala but settled in Chennai for achieving more heights in the field of music.
Before moving to Chennai, he completed his schooling in the year of 2007 from St. Paul’s English Medium Higher Secondary School, Thenhippalam which is located near to his hometown. Besides being a singer, Jithin Raj is an engineering graduate. He studied Electronics and Communication Engineering at Kalasalingam University in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu.
During his college days, he participated in a reality show named Airtel Super Singer 3 in 2011 but got eliminated from the competition in one of its rounds. After his first experience in the world of reality shows, Jithin subsequently entered as a contestant in Mazhavil Manorama’s, a Malayalam channel, singing reality show named Indian Voice Season 2 in the year of 2012 and was crowned as the first runner-up. Also, he used to appear in Kappa TV’s program called
along with the band Prayaan. Indian Voice turned out to be a perfect platform for his exposure to the world of music as well as acting. It was from the final stage that the music director Sharreth announced his entry to the Film Industry as an actor in the movie, Neeyum Pinne Njaanum. Later, in 2015, he also acted in a Tamil movie
which was directed by
. Though Jithin made his debut as a playback singer through a yet to be released Tamil movie, Uppili, his first break was given by the music director D Imman in 2015 through the Tamil song Pidikkudhae from the film Sigaram Thodu.
Since then, Imman has become a mentor for him. So many good and hit songs happened to him within a very short span of time, especially his song Un Mele Oru Kannu from the movie
which crossed 30 million views within a few months. Another big hit for Jithin is his song Virru Virru from the film Rekka and it garnered two lakh views on the very same day of its launch.
In addition to Tamil songs, Jithin has also sung in some of the Malayalam movies. His first break in Malayalam was given by the music director Vidyasagar with the song Mekkarayil from the film
. In 2016, he has sung in
and also his song Punnamadakkaayal from Muthiri Vallikal Thalirkkumpol received positive reviews from all age groups. The next release for this young talent from Kerala is yet another Tamil song Enna Sonna, a beautiful melody duet with Anandi Joshi, for the movie Pichuvakathi.
