Varmman Elangkovan is an Indian music director, composer, and playback singer working chiefly in the Tamil film industry. He studied Actuarial Science in college while learning to compose music at the same time. His first release, Vilagathey Singles, was just a college project which surprisingly got recognized by established people from the film industry. Soon after, Varmman was his offered his first project as a music composer by director KarthikShamalan for the telemovie, ManggalyamTanthunanena (2016).
He composed two songs - Yennevo and OruPothum, as well the Background Music for the telemovie, which became an instant hit. He made his debut as a playback singer in his second movie with director KarthikShamalan, SughamaaiSubbulakshmi (2018), where he sang Nyaayamthana. In his third film with Karthik,
(2018), he worked as the music director and playback singer for its title track, ‘DevathaiDekho’ and ‘
.’ Varmman then worked as a music director in the film NeeyumNaanum (2018), directed by BalaGanapathi William.
He directed and performed ManggalyamTanthunanena, This is my Beat’U, Tale Suttuthey, En Sawsame, TookkamIllaiye, and Nee Illamal for the movie. After hearing his melodious compositions, director K. KaviNanthan approached him for Venpa (2019), in which he directed and composed ThirumbiPaaradi, ThirumbiPaarkiren, UnIdathil, OruMurai, and performed Thandayuthabaaniye 1.0. He is also credited as the music director and composer for the movies, Aradhana and Maayaivanam.
