MN Vyasa Rao was a poet and lyricist of Indian origins. All his works are in the Kannada language. He has also translated some works from other languages into Kannada. Vyasa used to work as an employee at a bank before entering the film industry. He first wrote lyrics to the songs of the movie Shubhamangala in the year 1975, marking his debut in the world of Kannada cinema. He has authored many novels written in Kannada. He mostly wrote detective and thriller fiction novels. He has also written various short stories. He was felicitated with the Karnataka Rajya Sahitya Academy award for the collection of his stories titled Maleyalli Neneda Maragalu.
He worked as a lyricist for the movies Vasantha Kavya (1996), Kidnap (1995), Giddu Daada (1995), Ammavra Ganda (1997), Mana Midiyithu (1995), Hosa Varsha (2007), Jenu Goodu (2001), Ravi Shastry (2006), Parodi (2007), Hoo Anthiya Uhoo Anthiya (2001), Onti Dhwani (1984), Gandharva Giri (1983), Aganthuka (1987), Deva (1989), Shankha Naada (1986), Deepa (1977), and many more.
