Dhamayanthi is a famous Tamil poet, fictional writer, film director, and lyricist. She was born on 15th April in Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu). Her parents were teachers. Dhamayanthi is post-graduated. She pursued a BA in English from 'Sarah Tucker College, Tirunelveli'. Then, she pursued an MA in English from 'St. John's, Tirunelveli'. She started writing as a hobby. She has published an essay collection, six short story collections, and a novel.
As time passed by, she moved to Chennai in order to work as a professional writer in the film industry. She wrote her first song for the film 'Vizhithiru'.
