Baburao Gokhale was an Indian playwright, actor, director, story writer, supporting actor, and lyricist in both Marathi and Tamil Industry. He was a Marathi, born on September 15, 1916. Ghokale was renowned for his unique style of writing that consisted of humor, satire, and talked about societal norms. He was also the founder of the theater company Three Stars 1. He also directed Purushottam Darvhekar’s play ‘Varhadi Manas’, and achieved commercial success.
His plays Kalam 302 discuss the themes of corruption and bureaucracy in India post-independence, ‘Sakharam Binder’ showcases elements like morality, sexuality, and power, which were not conventional during that time. Majha Ghar is a play that showcases the importance of family, and relationships and discusses social norms. He portrays people’s social responsibility towards the society one lives in, in a very subtle manner.
