Joicy

Joicy is a novelist cum screenplay writer in the Malayalam entertainment industry. He was born Emmanuel in Theekoyi, a village in Kottayam district, Kerala. He went to Chinthalar High School in Vagamon. Joicy started his writing career as a novelist in Mangalam, Manorama, and Manorajyam magazines. Joicy worked under various pen names, Jesse Junior, Jossey Vagamattam and CV Nirmala. Joicy is married to Salamma and they had four children, including Baalu, Maanu, Meenu, and Saanu. Baalu died in 2017 in a bike accident.

His first novel is Swapnam Mayangunna Theeram. Joicy also worked in magazines, including Maanasamaina, Madhuram and Janani. In 1983, he received the Best Novel Award for his novel Vilaapangalude Thaazhvara at Kumkumam Novel Awards. In 1984, he received the Best Novel Award for his novel Kanneeraattile Thoni at the Mangalam Novel Awards. Manorama magazine published more than 50 awards. Since 1991, he has been on the editorial board of Manorma weekly.

In 1993, he penned the screenplay of Streedhanam, directed by P Anil Babu. In 1994, he penned Njan Kodiswaran, directed by Joy Thomas. The same year, he penned the screenplay of Palayam, directed by TS Suresh Babu. The same year, he worked in Bharya, directed by VR Gopalakrishnan. In 1997, he wrote the screenplay for Shibiram, directed by TS Suresh Babu. In 1998, he worked in Dravidan, directed by Mohan Kuplari.
