Born to John Tellence and Molly Tellence in Kochi, Teenu Tellence did her schooling at St. Ann’s Higher Secondary School, Eloor, and Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Thevara. Later, she went to St. Teresa’s College in Ernakulam, where she pursued Bachelors in Communicative English. After her Bachelor’s degree, Teenu joined Rajagiri College of Social Services for her Master’s in Medical and Psychiatric Social work, followed by her Ph.D. in Social work from M.G. University. Teenu undertook her research on gerontology to determine the mental health of an older woman.

Teenu Tellence tied the knot with Jithin Joseph James, a percussionist, in 2012, and they have a son. Teenu Tellence ventured into singing with stage shows during her high school days. She then debuted on television by taking part in the reality singing show Sapthaswarangal. With her consistent effort and hard work, Teenu made it into the finals of the show and ended up as the runner-up. Following Sapthaswarangal, she took part in the Surya TV’s musical show Swaramanjari. Teenu reached the finals of the program, emerged as the runner-up.

Teenu Tellence got her breakthrough in 2007 when she appeared in the Asianet’s musical reality television show Star Singer. Though she didn’t win the show, her popularity rose to a peak. Through the show, she gained huge recognition and playback singing offers.  She debuted as a playback singer with the song Kattadi Thanalum in Classmates. In 2008, Teenu recorded for the female version of Arikil Nee Illa from the movie Thirakkatha. In 2018, she recorded the title song for the Malayalam serial Chembarathi. She has been working as an anchor in Goodness TV for seven years. She has been anchoring the singing show Voice of Goodness, and the mega reality show Davidinte Kinnarangal. The career graph as an anchor proves that she is successful not just as a singer but also as an anchor. Presently, Teenu Tellence appears in the music show Start Music on Asianet television. Over the years as a stage performer, Tennu has performed with big musical celebrities like K.S.
