A Malayalam actor and artist, Sankaradi originally named as Chandrasekhara Menon was one of the finest and realistic actors of the South Indian Cinema. He almost has 700 movies registered to his name and has been quite a popular figure from the 1960s to the 1980s. The posthumous actor had a very different life before his Bollywood career. He pottered in politics, theatre and journalism. He also became the card holder of the undivided Communist Party of the Congress post piecing together with the Indian National Congress.

Unfortunately, the split in 1964 compelled him to return his card and he linked up back with the theatre. During his higher studies, he also joined the trade union in Baroda. His passion for Literature made him quit his job and connects with a reputed newspaper of that time. He married Sharada in the late 1980s but did not have any children. Talking about his filmography, he made his debut in Kunchacko’sKandalamma. This film and his role left an incorrigible mark of excellence. Since then he ruled the Malayalam Cinema. ‘ViruthanShanku’, the first full-length comedy by P. Venu. That bought him the state’s best character artiste in 1968-71.

He worked with PremNazir in around 300 known films. He also has accolades like the prestigious Kerala State Awards like the Second Best Actor (1970) for the film VazhveMayam and EzuthathaKadha and the same award in 1971 for various films. He died on the 9th October 2001 at the age of 76-77. Nevertheless, he left a remarkable print on many hearts.

Chandrasekhara Menon, born on July 14, 1924, in the North Pavavur kingdom of Cochin, India, was an actor of Malayalam origin and a politician. He completed his schooling in Cherai and Kandassankadavu. Later, he went to Bombay and managed to secure an editorial job with the magazine Literary Review. During this period, he worked alongside renowned journalist Ramji and the poet Harindranath Chathopadhyaya.

Chandrasekhara Menon's father was Memana Parameswara Pillai, and his mother was Chankaradiyil Thoppil Parambil Janaki Amma. The actor had three sisters and a brother, namely, Indira Menon, Sarojini Menon, Lakshmikuty Menon, and Balan Menon.Later in his life, he married Sharada. Chandrasekharan Menon's screen name was "Sankaradi."

He played numerous roles in over 700 Malayalam films, predominantly as a comedian and a character artist from the 1960s to the 1980s. For one of his supporting roles in a film, he won the Kerala State Film Award and also received the Second Best Actor award in 1970 and 1971.
