Paravoor Ramachandran has been a star of the Malayalam industry. Born in 1945, Paravoor was brought up in Kerala. Since childhood, he was fascinated by acting, and that’s the reason he opted for this profession at a young age. Initially, he started off with theatre at the tender age of 17. His first play was ‘Perbavoor Nataka Sala.’
He received a lot of appreciation for this play and got more positive reviews when viewers got to know that he was only 17 years old. He always said that he enjoyed theatre more than films and that’s the reason he worked in theater more than movies. He had been a part of the theatre named ‘Kalidasa Kalakedram.’ The Kalidasa Kalakedram has been working since years and has given many budding actors and actresses chance to work so that they can polish their skills. Paravoor worked in many plays for two years when he was in Kalidasa Kalakedram.
After these two years, when he got a lot of critical acclaims, he was approached by directors for roles in movies. He majorly worked in art films. His first flick was in 1996, approximately after 25 years of theater. The name of his silver screen debut was ‘Sathya Bhamakkoru Pranaya Iekhanam’ in which he played the character of Chandramangalathu Ramavarma. He gained popularity from this role. Then he went on to play roles in many Malayalam flicks. Few of them are Superman, Harbour, FIR, Kadha Nayakan, Thooval Kottaram, Shivam, The King maker leader, Pathaaka, Kanal Kireedam.
His last silver screen presence was in Yakshiyum Njanum Yakshiyum Njanum, the Malayalam-dubbed Hindi serie >> Read More... in which he portrayed Vasudeva Gounder. In total, he worked in thirty flicks. In his personal life, at the peak of his career, his parents selected a girl for him, and he gave his approval for this arranged marriage. The name of his wife is Sathi, and the couple is blessed with two children.
Neither his wife nor his children are from the filmy background. Paravoor opted for a voluntary retirement from films in 2009 at the age of 64. The exact reason for this retirement is not known, but news reports claim that his ill health was a reason that he had to bid farewell to both theatre and films. But he continued to work on television for some serials. Paravoor breathed his last on 4th January 2011 in Kottayam, Kerala. It was a sudden death that came as a shock to Malayalam industry.
