Maqbool Salman is an Indian movie star who acts in Malayalam movies. He was born in Vaikom, Kottayam, Kerala and is the son of television actor Ibrahimkutty. He has a sister named, Tania Amjith. He did his graduation in Hotel Management from Oxford College, Bengaluru. He is also the nephew of Malayalam movie star Mammootty, so logically, he was inclined towards acting from his school days. After completing his graduation, he took up acting as a career seriously. Using his uncle’s approach was out of the equation, so he started appearing for auditions. His short struggle of only a year landed him a lead role in AK Saajan’s movie.

However, this project failed to take off due to technical reasons. AK Saajan approached Maqbool with the script of Asuravithu, and he signed it immediately. Though the role was a short one, but it was an important role in the context of the movie, whose lead was Asif Ali. The film did not do well, but Maqbool’s performance was well appreciated. This role landed him a lead role in the movie Matinee, which was liked by both critics and the audience. The film was later declared a hit. Since Matinee, he has acted in over 15 movies but is yet to find his space in the Malayalam film industry. He has played lead roles in Hangover(2014), Paran Baaki Vechathu (2014), etc. but they did not performed well.

Maqbool forayed into the Tamil cinema in 2017. He followed his cousin Dulquer’s footsteps to enter Tamil cinema. Dulquer was already a household name when Maqbool entered Kollywood. He knew there were bound to be comparisons, but that didn’t deter him from anything. He treats Dulquer as his elder brother and takes advice from him. He got married to Almaz in 2017. He starred with his uncle Mammootty in the movie Kasaba in 2016, which was no less than a dream for Maqbool. His best film till date for which he was recognized and appreciated was Dooram (2016).
