B Ajith Kumar

B Ajithkumar is an indian editor and director, who predominantly works in the malayalam film industry, having revised the scripts for more than sixty movies in the past two decades. Born and raised in kothamangalam, kerala in 1973, he graduated from the film & television institute of india in pune, maharashtra.

He is recognized for undertaking projects that mostly focus on either exploring the human psyche or tackling a prevalent social issue. He made his debut as an editor with nandakumar kavil’s “maanthrika veena” (1999). Gradually working his way up the success ladder, his career culminated when he edited the script for adoor gopalakrishnan’s drama “nizhalkuthu” (2002).

The movie was based on the recesses of the human conscious and brought ajithkumar the kerala state film award for best editor. He repeated the feat thrice more as he bagged the honor for “bhavan” (2002), “annayum rasoolum” (2013) and “kammatipaadam” (2017). For his second collaboration with gopalakrishnan in “naalu pennungal” (2007), he was felicitated with the 2007 national award for best editing.

In 2018, he made his directorial debut with “eeda.” The film boldly challenged the political violence occurring in kannur, kerala, receiving critical applause from the viewers. Besides movies, ajithkumar has actively contributed to editing nearly forty documentaries as well, including “age of explorations” (2004), “kalamandalam ramankutty nair” (2005), “palathully” (2007) and “k.g. george” (2017). Most recently, he modified the storyline for m. Manikandan’s upcoming tamil drama kadaisi vivasayi.
