Kamaluddin Mohammed Majeed, more prominently known as Kamal, is a movie director, producer, and writer. Kamal has predominantly worked in Malayalam cinema. He was born in Mathilakam, Kodungallur in Thrissur, Kerela on 28 November 1957. He had started his career after completing his graduation from Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur and Christ College, Irinjalakuda. He got married to Saburabi and had two children with her, Hanna Mohamed and
. His son, Jenuse also made his debut in the year 2015 with the film 100 Days of Love. It was also a Malayalam film. His career in the industry started when he scripted for the film Thraasa.
Thraasa was directed by Padiyan in the year 1981. He was an associate director in the film. He directed his first movie Mizhineer Pookkal in the year 1986. After his debut as a director, he has directed around 43 movies to date. He has also directed one Hindi film. Kamal has also been the general secretary of Malayalam Cine Technicians Association (MACTA) and in Kerala Chalachitra Academy, he has been an executive member. Currently, he is serving in Kerala Director’s Union (FEFKA) as its President.
His works include Kakkothikavile Appooppan Thadikal, Unnikale Oru Katha Parayam, Thoovalsparsham, Ghazal, Ee Puzhayam Kadannu Azhagiya Ravanan, Ulladakam, Meghamalhar, Madhuranombarakaattu,
, Khaddama and Mazhayethum Munpe. His movie Celluloid which was released in 2013 is one of his best works till date.
