Joseph Thaliath Jr. was a producer and Indian film director. He is the son of a High Court Judge. After finishing his degree, he developed an interest in cinema and, much against his father's wishes, went to Madras (now Chennai) to work as an assistant to S. Soundararajan, a multilingual film director. F. Nagoor was a film producer, art director, and Newtone Studios partner in Chennai. As a partner, he was joined by Joseph Thaliath Jr. He established Citadel Film Corporation with F. Nagoor. He wrote a story based on Christian folklore and produced and directed the film Gnana Soundari with F. Nagoor. The film was a huge success when it was released in 1948. Following the success of Gnana Soundari, he opened his studio, which he named "Citadel Studios," after the A. J. Cronin novel The Citadel.
It was constructed on a large plot in Kilpauk, Chennai, with two entrances. One entrance was on Poonamallee High Road, while the other was on Landon's Road. He wrote, produced, and directed Ithaya Geetham in 1950. The film was shot in his Citadel Studios for the most part. He later dubbed the film into Hindi as Jeeva Taara.
