V K Joseph is a cultural activist, writer, and media and film critic. He got the National Film Award for critic of the year in 2007. He has written five books about cinema and was awarded the Kerala State Government's Film and Ideology Award. He is the secretary of the Federation of Film Societies of India, Kerala Region, and has served as primary coordinator and vice-chairman of the International Film Festival of Kerala. In collaboration with the Jan-Vrijman Fund Amsterdam, he was also the primary coordinator and director of a short film and documentary-making workshop for women. V. K. Joseph is a cinema reviewer from India.
In 2009, he received the Indian National Film Awards' Best Critic Award "for his intellectual and artistic integrity in writing about regional, national, and world film." Joseph is also the vice-chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, a Malayalam film promotion organization. His critique of Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times made him famous.
