R Prasannan was a Malayalam author and an Indian academic commissioner, who was born on 20th September 1929. He is the prestigious author of eight different books in Malayalam and has authored several articles, journals, and magazines in both Malayalam as well as English.
His most noteworthy book, 'Niyamasabhayil Nishabthanayee,’ earned him the ‘Sahodharan Ayyappan’ Award. Kerala University marks his initial education, where he received his B.L. and LL.M. degrees, followed by Yale University, USA, from where he got his Ph.D. in law. In his early profession, he was a professor and then Dean in Kerala and Calicut University. Later, in the year 1969, he was appointed the Secretary, in the Kerala Legislative Assembly.
He was a profound member of the Kerala Backward Classes commission and later became a member of the National Commission for Backward Classes(1993-1996). He died on 19th January 2002 at the age of 72.
