Palliyara Sreedharan is a Malayalam writer and mathematician, born on 17th January 1950 in Kannur, Kerala. He did his schooling at Muttannur UP School and Koodali High School in Kannur. He went to Pazhazhi Raja N.S.S. College, Mattannoor and did his Mathematics degree. Later, he completed his B.Ed degree from Government Teachers Training College in Calicut. He started his career as a Mathematics teacher in 1972 at the Koodali Government School. In 1978, he published his first book on Math. However, his career as a writer started in 1999. Sreedharan is fondly called as Mathemagician of Kerala. Sreedharan doesn’t want to write a book on Math but wished to give the children some fun from Mathematics. Palliyara Sreedharan has written 150+ books in his career on Math and this is a record from India.
Palliyara Sreedharan has also worked as a columnist in popular papers and magazines, including Malayala Manorama, Mathrubhumi and Deshabhimani. He also wrote articles for Eureka, Vidyarangam, Sahityaposhini, Sastrakeralam, Balakathukam, Balachandika, Prathichaya and Mayilpeeli. Besides this, he has jointly written books with some authors for SCERT (State Council for Educational Research and Training) and NCERT (National Council for Educational Research and Training). Since 22nd August 2016, Palliyara Sreedharan is the Director of Kerala State Institute of Children's Literature. He had also been the Kannur District Panchayat Science Park’s Director.
